How do I become an RPII Accredited Inspector?

The RPII conducts written and practical examinations for Annual Inspectors of Inflatable Play Equipment. This process ensures that inspectors have met the required levels of knowledge and competency for this type of equipment.

The RPII has three inspection levels.

Routine Inspection – a daily or weekly visual check

Operational Inspection – a more detailed periodic inspection monthly or quarterly.

Annual Inspection – the important Annual Inspection should not be missed and can only be completed by one the UK’s RPII Outdoor Play Annual Inspectors.

Annual Inspectors – Outdoor

If you’re interested in becoming a certified Annual Inspector for Outdoor play safety, you can find out more here.

To be eligible you will already have a good working knowledge of playground inspections. You will probably already have carried out annual inspections but if not will have carried out regular operational inspections.

You will have a good working knowledge of all current applicable standards and some working knowledge of previous standards. You will also have an understanding of how children use playgrounds.

 

Annual Inspectors – Indoor

If you’re interested in becoming a certified Annual Inspector for Indoor play safety, you can find our more here.

To be eligible you will already have a good working knowledge of fully enclosed play equipment inspections. You will probably already have carried out post installation and annual inspections and/or audits.

You will have a detailed working knowledge of BS8409: 2002 together with a working knowledge of EN 1176, EN 1177 and Indoor Play Areas Guidance on Safe Practice (published by ILAM) as appropriate.

 

Annual Inspectors – Inflatables

To be eligible you will already have a good working knowledge of design, manufacture, materials used, operating, maintenance and inspection of Inflatable Play Equipment. You will probably already have carried out annual inspections.

You will have a good working knowledge of the European Standard for Inflatable Play Equipment, BS:EN 14960:2013. You will also have a full understanding and capability to apply Risk Assessment to Inflatable Play Equipment.

An understanding of how children use this type of equipment is also essential.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE AND PRODUCE A CURRENT PAT TESTING CERTIFICATE BEFORE SITTING THE RPII EXAMINATION
